Left and had supper at Mano Mega Curry House with the bunchies (Cally, CH, Abbie, Ravin, Sarny, LV)
So like , yeaaa.
Anyway saw this on someones facebook page, got me think for quite some time.
Try to solve it if you can (:
Cause I cant and i'm cracking my head for answers, argh. Its driving me insane!
So the question is, if each person paid $10 and took back $1 (which brings the amount of $9 per person paid for their meal). Now lets do the math, $9 x 3 = rm27 ; Plus $2 as tips = $29. Where did the $1 go?
Manage to figure it out?
Drop me a comment if you know the answer!
much loves, xx.

You see, when you times $9 and $3, it's $27, but that's the amount they SPEND (dinner[$25] plus tips[$2]).
So the remaining $3 is the amount they took back ("Then each of them took back their respective $1")
i reckon the last part is there to confuse you ay. haha
and from the 1st method, the bill is only $25, so $27-$25 = $3,
and the balance $3 is split among the three of us.
which means the extra $2 being added to the $25 (from the bill) is the tips.
Anon : I dont really get what youre saying uhms.
Anon : Yea, I kno right. Lol, but still it gets you thinking hahaha.
Anon : Wow, I SEE MATHEMATICAL CALCULATIONS! Hardcore ;p
Jill : Huh? What do you mean? I'm lost ):
Godddd , I dont get it!!!!! Someone please explain? Booboo ;S

They spent $9 X 3 = $27
$27 - $25 = $2 (That's the tips)
$30 - $27 = $3 are what they took back and keep. (Then each of them took back their respective $1)
Tips = $2
Total bill = $25
Total bill with tips = $27
So the total bill is actually $27, and there's no remaining.
I think the question is trying to confuse you in a way that the 3 person have to pay $29(total bill + tips), which is incorrect. Because when they pay $9, it already included the tips.
each of them paid $9, 9x3=$27.
the cost of the meal was $25.
$25+$2 tips = $27 in total,
which is what they paid!
the question's last bit tricked u into adding YET ANOTHER EXTRA $2 for tips to make it seem as tho the total paid was $29 and asked for the missing $1.
when its really simple:
Paid = $30
Meal = $25
Each took back $1 = $3
Tips = $2
$25 + 3$ + $2 = $30!
i hope u get it cause i think everyone explained well enough already! cheers
about your post...
each of them paid 9
so 9 X 3 = 27
+ 3 which is the balance
= 30
The tips to the waiter is not counted as it is a cost.
25+2 =27
so 28 is the Total cost.
27+1+1+1 = 30
