[ADV] To Love, To Touch, To Share, the Olympus E-PL5.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers with loads of events to attend. I decided to go for the de Jouer lingerie fashion show and the Future Music Festival Asia and brought along the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5.

Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is pretty compact and really really light. Looks pretty plain and simple too. But don’t all that fool you. This little dynamo is totally packed with features and functions. I have to admit, the looks of the camera are pretty deceiving.

What I like most about the E-PL5 is the Touch AF Shutter - one of its key features. No more frustrating moments of having to press the capture button again and again to get the camera to focus and all that. Just touch the Live View Screen (yes, it’s a touch screen!) and voila - instant focus, composition and shoot! Olympus claims this as the “World’s Fastest Touch Screen AF Shutter” and well, from my experience I think they’ve definitely earned it.

The E-PL5 also incorporates a lot of Olympus’ latest OM-D technologies, so it can actually deliver the highest level of image quality from any Micro Four Thirds system camera. Wow. In English, that means the picture quality damn ‘cun’ lahhh. Like professional quality!

Verdict:
The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is compact, surprisingly light in weight and way easier to carry compared to lugging around a DSLR. It’s like a DSLR system bundled into a compact camera where the image you see is the image you get! Real pro quality pictures like DSLR quality, super easy to use.
Check out some pictures I took!

I was happily watching the show and didn’t expect Tim to catch me in this rather candid photo.

Check out the models and the lingerie! De Jouer actually means naughty in French! Was rather hard to shoot the moving models so good thing there was the Touch AF Shutter function. I just tapped on the model and the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 focused and shot the photo in less than a second.

The theme of the fashion show was “dessert with de Jouer” and they had loads of sweet desserts for us such as these cupcakes which I shot using the ‘Macro’ mode.

Jello shots! Love the vibrant colours.

Us playing with the sexy lingerie! Heh.

I think all girls should have a pair of sexy lacy sets in their wardrobe ;)

Group pic of us Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers at the event!

The venue of the fashion show was rather dark with the lights focused mainly on the runway but the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 managed to cope with it. This is due to a few features namely the sensor, image processing engine and the high quality Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses.

The camera can shoot up to ISO25600 with huge noise reduction due to its 16M Live MOS Sensor making it possible to capture sharp, clear images with little loss of detail even under conditions where a flash cannot be used. Hence, beautiful impeccable quality pictures!

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 also has ultra-high sensitivity for handheld nightscape shooting and has an extremely wide dynamic range from low light to high brightness making it able to accurately reproduce light and shade.

The high-speed TruePic VI image processing engine incorporates fine detail processing and real-colour technology which produces amazing images with high resolution and vivid, bigger-than-life details. To compensate for the lack of a viewfinder (which I feel is quite a relic these days unless you’re a professional photographer), a dedicated image processing core is used for both the recorded image and Live View image so photographers will be able to see what the image will look like before they even shoot.

Combined with the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses which Olympus has spent years refining and improving, the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is quite the little pocket rocket!

The monitor also swivels for easy self-portrait shooting, how convenient! However a small drawback is that the flash mounted on the hotshoe that blocks the monitor a bit.

Boyfriend and I decided to go for some Japanese food a couple of days late. I didn’t want to be rude and snap pictures of everything as there were people all around so I took this pic of the bar which was empty and it was really pretty with all the liquor bottles, sake cups and so on. This was shot with the ‘Night Scene mode’ (under Scene) as it was rather dim in the restaurant. Without using this mode it was quite dark, but it didn't turn out yellowy or not even a bit of noise/grain to be seen! Majorly impressed with the sharpness of this picture.

Here's an outfit of the night picture!

Love my ensemble for the night, love how the 'Portrait Mode' smoothen my skin out but still kept the vibrancy and design of my dress.

Then it was a 2-day party weekend at the Future Music Festival Asia at the Sepang International Circuit.

Both days were super packed with party-goers. Organisers estimated that 35,000 people went on the first day alone which was Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance 600.

Me with the boyfie.

I love fireworks! Used the ‘Fireworks’ mode for this pic.

Another useful feature is the ability to import photos directly from the camera to my smartphone without any cables or card readers! Great for sharing photos on Facebook, and Twitter!

This is achieved by using the (optional) FlashAir Wi-Fi SD card in place of a normal SD card. Then just launch the OI.Share application on your smartphone when you want to transfer the photos and you will be able to view thumbnails of the pictures in the camera on your smartphone display, and you can then select which pictures to import.

Ta da! High quality photos uploaded straight to your social media account from wherever you are! Something that will definitely impress your friends!

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 comes with Body, Flash FL-LM1, Li-ion battery BLS-5, Li-ion battery charger BCS-5, USB cable, AV cable, Shoulder strap, OLYMPUS Viewer 2 (CD-ROM), Instruction manual, Warranty card, MCG-4(Changeable Grip)

I will have another post coming soon on the Art Filter feature of the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 coming soon so stay tuned to my blog!

Well, I would treat the camera as an OM-D, minus a view finder and mic for recording.

The other thing that you could have mentioned about the camera is that the flip screen helps a lot in doing self-shots. And duck shots. :D

The fun part is that you can change the grip for the E-PL5 with a custom colored grip of your preference.

Lightweight and easy to take around.
Thanks for sharing this site, it is very informative for the business personals.
